PRESIDENT ILVES COULD HAVE TURNED MORE ATTENTION TO ENTREPRENEURS

Publicist and columnist Janek Mäggi says that, in his opinion, President Ilves could have emphasised more the role of entrepreneurs in its 2014 honors list that was published yesterday. 

Kristo Käärmann, Hellar Mutle, Leida Kikka, Mart-Järvo Hirtentreu and Sven Lennart Alpstål will receive the state decoration for promoting business.

“In the situation where the economy is stagnating it is very strange that there were so few entrepeneurs among recipients of state decorations.

“But it’s also clear that entrepreneurship is not a very enviable position right now. No-one wants to be an entrepreneur, everybody wants to be an artist or a public official,” he added.

President Toomas Hendrik Ilves will hand out 99 state decorations, same number as last year, with Siim Kallas, Andrus Ansip and Timothy John Berners-Lee receiving high honors.
